Asian Games 2003: Indian duo PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy qualified to the quarter-finals – Magazine Creations

Indian stars PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy kicked off their Asian Games campaign by winning their singles matches in the round of 32 at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Tuesday.

PV Sindhu defeated Chinese Taipei shuttler World No. 21 Hsu Wen-chi 21-10, 21-15 in 42 minutes while Prannoy comfortably progressed to the last 16 by winning both matches convincingly 21-9, 21-12 over Mongolian player Patdava Munkhbat. .

PV Sindhu has been struggling with injuries since winning gold at the Commonwealth Games last year, but looked in good shape in her first match.

In the first match, PV Sindhu moved freely around the badminton court and used her height to beat Hsu Wen Chi. The 28-year-old Indian badminton player built a comfortable five-point lead in the first half and went on to win the first game in 18 minutes.

The match continued at the same pace until Hsu Wen Chi started to trouble PV Sindhu with a few shots.

PV Sindhu then took a three-point lead in the second match. On the other hand, Hsu Wen Chi narrowed the margin to just one point in the first half.

After the break, the two players played out extended exchanges, but PV Sindhu regained the lead and advanced to the last 16.
