
The Indian women’s 25m pistol team of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Ritham Sangwan clinched the gold medal at the Asian Games on September 27, PTI reported.
The trio achieved a total score of 1,759, clinching the top spot on the podium and clinching India’s fourth gold medal in the ongoing sporting event. Manu Bhaker emerged to the top in the qualifying round after the last rapid fire series and scored 98 points in it.

The Chinese team won the silver medal with a total of 1,756 points, while the South Korean shooters won the bronze medal for third place with a total of 1,742 points.
The victory came soon after another Indian trio consisting of Ashi Choksi, Manini Kaushik and Sift Kaur Samra clinched the silver medal in the women’s 50m 3-position rifle event. The Indian team obtained a total of 1,764 points in the qualifying round, ranking second on the podium.

Host China won the gold medal with a total of 1,773 points, and South Korea took the bronze medal with a total of 1,756 points. Samra and Choksi also qualified for the finals. Samra came in second place, Choksi came in sixth place, while Kaushik was eliminated from the singles competition by finishing in eighteenth place. Al Samra achieved a new joint Asian record in the qualifiers with a total of 594 points.
World 100m butterfly champion Zhang Yufei earned a place in the final with the third-fastest time of the year on September 27, setting a Games record time of 56.20 seconds. Zhang had already won the 200m fly title in Hangzhou. Rikako Ikee, who impressed at the last Asian Games with six gold medals, qualified seventh, AFP reported.
