
As the 2023 Asian Games gears up for another day of fierce competition, athletes from India are set to make their presence felt across several sporting events on September 26. With participants competing in everything from boxing and shooting to e-sports and sailing, Indian athletes are ready for action.
The day starts early, at 5:30 am, with riders like Hriday Chheda and Anush Agarwala vying for medals in the St George’s Dressage Grand Prix.
Shooters from both the men’s and women’s teams will follow suit for glory in the skeet qualifying rounds, starting at 6:30 a.m. This will coincide with fencing as Bhavani Devi is scheduled to compete in the women’s individual saber event.
Squash teams won’t be far behind. The men’s team will face Singapore, and the women’s team will face Pakistan in their respective groups at 7:30 am. The morning schedule also bodes well for cycling, with heats and qualifying starting at the same time.

There will be several singles and doubles tennis matches. Notable participants include Ramkumar Ramanathan, Ankita Raina, Rohan Bopanna and others).
Vidit Gujrathi and Arjun Erigaisi will represent India in the men’s singles chess rounds starting at 12:30 pm. The women’s segment will feature Koneru Hampi and Harika Dronavalli.
Boxing will take the spotlight in the afternoon and evening. Sachin Siwatch will step into the ring for the men’s 57kg round of 32 at 12:30pm. Narinder will compete in the round of 16 in the men’s 92+ kg division at 6:15 p.m.
Volleyball will see India go head-to-head with arch-rivals Pakistan in the men’s fifth-sixth seed match at 4pm. Meanwhile, the day will conclude with wushu, where athletes like Suraj Yadav and Suriya Bhanu Partap Singh will compete in the men’s 70kg and 60kg quarter-finals, starting at 5pm.
