Indian athletes are making history at the 2023 Asian Games as we won our first medal in the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Team event. Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur praised Adarsh Singh, Anish Bhanwala and Vijayveer Sidhu for bagging the first ever bronze medal in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol team event. The minister posted the news on X (formerly Twitter) and congratulated the athletes.
The Chinese athletes won the gold medal with a new world record total of 1,765 strokes, while the Korean athletes took the silver with 1,734 strokes. India’s total qualifying score was as high as 1718 which was identical to Indonesia but as India had a higher number of internal tens, the Indian athletes finished third.

First ever medal
India’s first ever medal in the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Team event shows the improvement we have made in the field of sports and the success of the government’s efforts towards creating modern, world-class sports facilities that will ensure proper training of our athletes.
Despite some errors by Anish Bhanwala, Adarsh Singh gave an exceptional performance to take India’s score ahead and youngster Vijayveer Sidhu also performed really well and helped India clinch that medal. The trio’s performance showed India’s bright future in the game.
