
India has bagged two silver medals in the ongoing 2023 Asian Games being held in China. The first medal was taken during the first event of the day by an experienced group of Meholi Ghosh, Ramita Jindal and Ashi Choksi with a total score of 1886 points, behind China who surpassed the Asian record with 1896.6 points.

Furthermore, Ramita and Meholi also qualified to the individual finals, an event held parallel to the team event. China’s Han Jiayu set a new qualifying record with a score of 634.1 – 0.1 compared to the previous record set by another Chinese Zhao Ruzhou in 2019.
“It is a very proud moment for us because it is our first medal in the Asian Games. We were ready and confident that we will get a medal. This is my first medal in air rifle,” shooter Ashi Choksi said after winning the medal to ANI. “I am happy with the medal.”
Meanwhile, the second medal of the day was won by the duo of Arjun Lal Ghat and Arvind Singh, who finished just behind China in the men’s lightweight double sculls final, ANI reported.
The Army men who finished 11th at the Tokyo Olympics clocked a time of 6:28:18 seconds in the men’s lightweight doubles sculls final to win India’s second silver medal at the Asian Games.
They were slightly behind the Chinese duo of Fan Junyi and Sun Man who took first place with a time of 6:23:16 seconds.
