India Women successfully defended 116 to beat Sri Lanka Women by 19 runs and win a historic gold medal in cricket.
Earlier, Indian athletes also created history at the 2023 Asian Games as India won its first medal in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol team event.
Moreover, on the opening day of the ongoing 19th Asian Games, India clinched five medals in the shooting and rowing events on Sunday.
India won a silver and a bronze in shooting and two silvers and a bronze in rowing.
The trio of Ramita, Meholi Ghosh and Ashi Choksi opened India’s medal tally by winning silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event.
Ramita finished with a maholi of 631.9 (630.8) and Ashi’s 623.3 in the women’s 10m air rifle to win the medal.
