Audi’s plans to enter Formula 2026 under review: report – Magazine Creations

German carmaker Audi is reviewing its plans to enter the Formula 1 championship in 2026, a report from a German news agency says. SPIEGEL He said on Thursday.

The plans were analyzed in detail following a change in management and cost-cutting measures, the report said, citing sources at Audi’s parent company Volkswagen.

The report also stated, citing an Audi spokeswoman, that joining Formula 1 had been approved by the German carmaker’s management and supervisory boards as well as the parent company, and that the timetable remained unchanged.

Last October, Audi announced that it had acquired a minority stake in the Sauber Group, whose Swiss-based team is competing this season as Alfa Romeo with Ferrari engines.

“The carmaker manufactures its Formula 1 power unit at a facility in Neuburg an der Donau, near Audi’s headquarters in Ingolstadt,” an Audi report said. Reuters He said.

The Sauber Formula 1 team will compete in Mexico City this weekend with Finnish Valtteri Bottas and Chinese driver Guanyu Zhou.

In 2026, the Formula One Grand Prix will see several regulations changes.

The 2026 standards were announced a year ago.

The new engine changes are expected to impact car racing.

According to the new rules, Formula 1’s new power units will run on fully sustainable fuel. This means that no new fossil carbon will be burned, but rather the carbon will be extracted from non-food sources, real municipal waste, or even from the atmosphere. The current 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 internal combustion engine will be developed to include a much more powerful electrical component. The amount of electrical power produced by the current hybrid component will be approximately tripled.

Drivers may face a tougher challenge because after complexities such as the MGU-H are removed, turbo lag may return which could make the cars more difficult to control when exiting a corner.
