Four Canadian firefighters killed en route home from British Columbia wildfire – Magazine Creations

Four firefighters returning home from fighting wildfires in British Columbia died Wednesday in a car crash.

BC Premier David Eby and Forests Minister Bruce Ralston said in a joint statement that the firefighters died in a traffic accident near Cache Creek in the interior of British Columbia.

Eby and Ralston said their hearts are broken by the news of the contract workers’ deaths during an extremely difficult fire season.

He said they stand with all BC Wildfire Service personnel as they once again mourn the loss of colleagues and co-workers.

The deaths bring to six the number of firefighters who have lost their lives this fire season in the province.

25-year-old Zak Muise died in a car accident while fighting a massive wildfire in northern BC, and 19-year-old Devyn Gale was killed by a falling tree near Revelstoke.
