“Unbelievable move. Not good for other teams. He has experience, intelligence and plays the big moments well. He’s got incredible skill and understands his game with the bat and the ball,” De Villiers said.

“He’s a great addition to the team and I don’t know why he wasn’t there in the first place. I’m a big fan of his, he’s always a bit controversial but he plays to win. He always has a big impact on the game,” he said, adding “He likes to have the ball in his hand in moments of pressure, and he is never ashamed of the big moments.”

The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 begins on October 5 and the first match will be played between defending champions England and New Zealand.
