ICC World Cup 2023: Babar Azam-led Pakistan team lands in Hyderabad after visa approval – Magazine Creations

The Pakistan cricket team, led by skipper Babar Azam, on September 27 finally arrived in Hyderabad ahead of the big event on Wednesday. The team arrived a day after team visas were issued to participate in the 2023 ICC World Cup in India.

This is the first time in seven years that the Pakistan men’s cricket team has visited India, which is hosting the 2023 ICC World Cup this time. The exciting tournament begins on October 5 and ends on November 19.

According to a report by L Hindustan Times newspaperBabar Azam and other team members arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad after a nine-hour long layover in Dubai.

They left Lahore early on Wednesday morning and reached Hyderabad later at night.

The 1992 ICC World Cup champion will play his first warm-up match against 2019 runners-up New Zealand on September 29. Next up, they will be five-time Australian champions on October 3. But the real sporting action will begin for them when they take on the Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on October 6.

Before the team’s scheduled travel to Hyderabad, members of the Pakistan cricket team got their Indian visas in less than 48 hours. Due to injury, Babar missed the 2016 edition of the World Cup in India.

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan will face each other on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera.

“I am excited to play in Ahmedabad because it will be crowded. I will do my best to perform up to my potential. I am not worried about the accolades I will get, I want to make sure that everything I do helps in achieving the result for the team.”, HT Babar was quoted as saying in the pre-departure press conference.

Pakistan’s Muhammad Nawaz and Salman Ali Agha are the current members of the team who had previously visited India for the Tuhfa event.

“The BCCI has assured the ICC that all the teams will be provided with the best security and will be well taken care of, so I don’t expect anything different for our team. I don’t think our team will face any issues in India,” he said. Zakka Ashraf, Chairman of the PCB Management Committee.
