With India’s all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, ruled out of the upcoming match against New Zealand in Dharamsala in the ongoing 2023 Men’s World Cup on Sunday, Lok Sabha member Shashi Tharoor suggested that the Indian selectors should opt for Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav.
Earlier on October 19, while India was playing Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, Pandya had to leave the match due to an ankle injury in his left leg.
“He will not take the flight to Dharamsala with the team on October 20. He will now directly join the team in Lucknow where India plays England,” the BCCI said on October 20, adding: “He has been advised to rest and will be under observation.” Continuous supervision of the BCCI medical team.”

During the first over – the ninth of Bangladesh’s innings – Pandya appeared to twist his ankle while trying to stop the shot with his foot. After that, he was taken for tests and did not participate in the match again. He will head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for treatment.
Commander Rohit Sharma, according to the news agency, said that he participated in Pandya’s medical update that I“There is no major damage, which is good for us. But with an injury like this, we have to evaluate every day and we will do whatever is required.”
Meanwhile, a Lok Sabha member from Thiruvananthapuram and an ardent cricket fan has suggested that India play Suryakumar Yadav against New Zealand on Sunday and replace Shardul Thakur with Mohammed Shami.
“So @hardikpandya7 has been ruled out of India’s next World Cup match, against New Zealand in Dharamsala on Sunday. Since he has to be replaced and there is no other true all-rounder in the squad, we need two changes to cover both bases: @MdShami11 should come on,” he wrote. At the expense of Lord Shardul and Hardik’s place should go to @surya_14kumar. This match will determine who is truly the best in the quarter-final stage of #WorldCup2023. We have to play with the best possible lineup!”
So far India have won all four of their matches in the World Cup and stand second in the points table behind New Zealand who are leading on a net average.
