
In the final match of the league stage of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 on November 12, the Indian batsmen destroyed the Dutch bowling attack, as they ended up posting a huge total of 410/4 in 50 overs.
This is the second time in World Cup history that India has scored more than 400 runs. The last time India scored more than 400 runs in a World Cup match was back in 2007, when the team scored 413/5 (50 overs) against Bermuda in the match in Port of Spain.
Overall, there have been seven instances of a team scoring more than 400 points in World Cup history.

The only team to have scored 400 more goals than India in World Cup finals is South Africa, who have surpassed that mark three times. This includes the highest ever World Cup score of 428/5, which they scored against Sri Lanka in the match in New Delhi on October 7.
South Africa’s other two mammoth scores came in the 2015 World Cup – where they scored 411/4 against Ireland in Canberra and 408/5 against the West Indies in Sydney.

Of the remaining 400 World Cup goals, one each was scored by Australia and New Zealand. The Kangaroos scored against Afghanistan during the 2015 edition of the tournament, in the match played in Perth.
The New Zealander recently scored 401/6 on the board in the match against Pakistan on November 4.
With the exception of New Zealand, every team that has set a target of over 400 runs in World Cup history has successfully defended that target. The Black Caps lost by 21 runs (DLS method) against Pakistan.
Meanwhile, India’s innings of 410/4 against Netherlands was aided by the knocks of Shreyas Iyer (128) and KL Rahul (102). Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill also scored half-centuries.
