Thakur, who played the role of the third main seamer of the Indian bowling attack after Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, got only two catches of the ball. Some Internet users wondered why it was so little exploited.

Instead, skipper Rohit Sharma was seen selecting all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who is considered the sixth player in the team. Pandya was given 6 overs to play in the match.
