IPL 2024: Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians in an all-cash deal – Magazine Creations

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who led the IPL Gujarat Titans (GT) in the last two editions of the tournament, is set to return to Mumbai Indians (MI) as both franchises completed an all-cash swap deal.

The confirmation came hours after the Indian Premier League’s retention window closed on November 26. GT then reported that it had retained Pandya, who led the team to its inaugural win in the 2022 edition.

but, PTI It was later reported that a delay in official paperwork had prevented the IPL body and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from issuing their approval for the swap before the retention window closed.

Shortly thereafter, formalities were completed by both sides. While the holding period has been closed, swapping is permitted until December 12, reports said.

“The swap of Hardik was completed after 5 pm. The deal has now been formalized and he is an MI player. It was a three-way cash deal,” a BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity.

“MI traded their all-rounder Cameron Green to RCB in an all-cash deal. They then had the funds to settle an all-cash deal with Gujarat Titans and acquire the services of Hardik,” the news agency also quoted the official as saying.

It is worth noting that MI bought Green for a huge sum $17.5 crore during the last auction, so the money required to buy Pandya was not available until that deal was signed.

Pandya was picked by Gujarat Titans ahead of the 2022 auction from the list of players available for the two new franchises – GT and Lucknow Super Giants. His reported fees were $15 crore and led the team to back-to-back finals, winning the tournament in his first year and losing a thriller to CSK in 2023.
