Mohammed Siraj chases down a triple ball to leave Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya at splits | He watches – Magazine Creations

India wrote history on September 17 when they thrashed Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the Asia Cup final at the iconic R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

All thanks to Mohammed Siraj for his lethal bowling attack, as he scored six wickets in just 16 balls to leave the hosts in tatters.

Siraj also took four wickets in one match to rock Sri Lanka, becoming the first Indian bowler to achieve the feat. Just as the Indian was about to score a hat-trick, the goal turned into a moment of absolute laughter for the Indian team.

In the fourth game, Siraj started the first delivery by dismissing Pathum Nissanka and immediately after that he dismissed Sadira Samarawickrama. Siraj then got his third goal as Charith Asalanka vs. the Golden Duck and then scored a hat-trick.

However, the golden achievement was denied, and his teammates were left divided at the end of that delivery.

As skipper Rohit Sharma overloaded the slip cordon to give Siraj every chance at the feat, there was no fielder at the front of the square and new batsman Dhananjaya de Silva pushed the full fielder through the vacant mid-on zone.

As the ball moved towards the boundary line, Siraj also ran but to no avail. The sight of Siraj running to catch the ball caused Virat Kohli to burst into uncontrollable laughter. Also, Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya were left in split. Commentators Wasim Akram and Ravi Shastri also saw the funny side of the matter as Sooraj smiled sheepishly.

Although on the next ball, Siraj ended it by dismissing Dhananjaya, becoming the first ever Indian bowler to pick four wickets in a single match in ODIs.

Apart from Siraj, Hardik Pandya picked three wickets, while Bumrah grabbed one, ending Sri Lanka’s innings at 50 in just 15.2 overs.

Chasing 51, India opener Shubman Gill (27) and Ishan Kishan (23) finished with just 6.1 overs. India are now Asian Cup champions for the eighth time.
