Pakistan’s Mickey Arthur says India-Pakistan match ‘doesn’t look like an ICC event’, replies Wasim Akram – Magazine Creations

India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by seven wickets on Saturday to take an 8-0 lead in the ICC ODI World Cup. However, Pakistan team manager Mickey Arthur said after the match that the clash looked more like a “two-series” than an ICC event.

While Arthur did not clarify his statement due to the risk of fines, he did allude to the lack of Pakistani support at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where more than 100,000 Indian fans were cheering on the Men in Blue.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Arthur said: “Look, I’d be lying if I said it didn’t happen. To be very honest, it didn’t feel like an ICC event. It looked like a bilateral series. It looked like a BCCI event. I didn’t hear a song “Dil Dil Pakistan” is coming through the microphones a lot tonight.”

However, Arthur refused to blame the Indian side’s domestic support as the reason for Pakistan’s defeat on Saturday. “Yes, that plays a role, but I wouldn’t use that as an excuse because for us it was about living in the moment, it was about the next ball and it was about how we went there,” he said. Indian fight, Indian players tonight,”

Waseem Akram responds:

Former Pakistani player Wasim Akram was not too happy with Mickey Arthur’s comments to the crowd and called them “attention diversion”. Akram was quoted as saying: Sportskidda“(It’s) distracting. A lot of people get frustrated and you make them emotional. I think he should discuss his job as a professional instead of showing a new path. As a coach, he shouldn’t do that.” He said that.

Instead, the former Pakistan pace battery questioned the Pakistan team’s plan for the all-important match. He said: Brother, tell me what is the plan? How did you prepare to play Kuldeep Yadav? This is what we want to hear. Not these random things. You think you can get away with this? No, you can’t, unfortunately.”
