Rohit Sharma criticizes Indian players after poor performance, “Learn from South African bowlers” – Magazine Creations

India lost the first two-match Test series to South Africa by an innings and 32 runs on Thursday, dashing Rohit and Co.’s hopes of conquering the ‘final frontier’ as no Indian team has won a series in the last 31 years.

While the Indian batsmen, barring Rahul, struggled to control the bounce and swing conditions at the SuperSports Park Cricket Ground in Centurion, the Indian bowlers failed to put enough pressure on the Proteas, allowing them to unleash a mammoth strike. The first innings total is over 400 runs.

However, India skipper Rohit Sharma harshly criticized the Indian bowling line-up for conceding too many runs in the first innings, while reminding new entrants into the side to be grateful for the opportunity given to them.

Speaking after the match, Rohit said (as quoted by PTI): “This was not a 400-wicket haul and we took a lot of runs. We sprayed the ball everywhere, but it happens. One cannot depend on one particular player.” (Bumrah), the other three players also need to play their roles and we can learn from how South Africa play.”

However, the Indian captain was also appreciative of the role played by Jasprit Bumrah who took 4 wickets in nearly 27 runs with an economy of less than 3 overs. “Bumrah played well and we all know his quality. All he wanted was a little support which he didn’t get. That’s what happens. All three tried hard, bending their backs but it didn’t happen the way we wanted it,” Rohit said. . But games like this teach you a lot about what you want to do as a bowling unit,”

Rohit also had some advice for the young Indian players who got the opportunity to perform on the big stage against South Africa, saying that they should be grateful and get the job done for the team. “When you get an opportunity, you have to be grateful and go out and do the job for the team. Obviously it didn’t go well for him (Prasidh Krishna) and playing your first game, we would all have felt that,” he said. He was nervous, he would have been nervous too.

“These things happen, the guy has the ability to excel but we will back him and he has a great attitude to his game which stands us in good stead going forward.” The Indian skipper added.
