Virat Kohli takes ‘indefinite’ break from ODIs and T20Is; Says this to the Bank of Credit and Commerce International… – Magazine Creations

Ace cricketer Virat Kohli will not be part of the upcoming white-ball matches “indefinitely”. India is scheduled to begin the tour of South Africa next month with the T20 International in Durban on December 10. It is also still uncertain whether Rohit Sharma – who led the team to 10 straight wins before losing the World Cup final – will be available for the Whites. -Select the ball. Both players are currently in the UK enjoying a break after the World Cup.

“Kohli has informed the BCCI and the selectors that he needs a break from white-ball cricket and will get back to them on when he wants to play white-ball cricket next. For now he has informed the BCCI that he will play red-ball cricket. ..” The Indian Express quoted a source to explain.

India will play three T20 ODIs, three ODIs, followed by two Test matches during the upcoming tour of South Africa. However, the report states that Kohli will only play the two-match Test series. While the national selection committee is yet to announce the Indian squad for all three formats, both Kohli and Sharma are likely to be part of the Test squad.

Kohli broke several records this month with his World Cup performance, becoming the first ever batsman to reach 50 ODI centuries. He also emerged as the highest run-scorer and surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s total of 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup. Kohli scored 765 runs at an average of 95.62 and hit three centuries and six fifties.

Meanwhile, BCCI on Wednesday announced that it has extended coach Rahul Dravid’s contract in order to maintain continuity after the team’s stunning performance in the ODI World Cup.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India announces the extension of the contracts of head coach Rahul Dravid and support staff for Team India (senior men). The BCCI has entered into fruitful discussions with Dravid following the expiry of his contract post the World Cup,” the sports body said in a statement. Which recently concluded and unanimously agreed to extend the contract period.”

The BCCI has not specified the length of Dravid’s stretch.
