Meanwhile, the schedule may change as another match is currently underway between Pakistan and Sri Lanka where Pakistan won their first match against Netherlands while Sri Lanka lost to South Africa by 102 runs.

India will play its next match against Afghanistan on Wednesday. Meanwhile, victory over five-time champions Australia in their opening match gave India extra confidence for the rest of the group stage of the Cricket World Cup.

The tournament hosts face Afghanistan on Wednesday in the second of their nine group matches, and are preparing to be the most traveled team in the six-week tournament.

The 48,000-capacity Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will be the second of nine stadiums in India, with Hyderabad being the only host city where Rohit Sharma’s side will not be playing during the tournament.

India beat Australia by six wickets on Sunday in a thrilling, low-scoring match in Chennai, with spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav collecting five wickets to bowl out the Aussies for 199. India struggled initially and were trailing by three wickets for two runs in 12 deliveries before Lokesh Rahul combined. Virat Kohli to lead the home team to victory.

“It feels very good when you beat big teams and your confidence definitely goes up. I won’t say it will be easy against other teams because every team is good. But if you win against other teams, you will win against other teams,” Jadeja said. “From the big teams, you have a different level of confidence.”

This makes India a strong candidate against Afghanistan, which ranks ninth.
